Welcome to the Letham Climate Challenge website!
Letham is one of a number of communities across Scotland working to reduce the Carbon Foot Print of the community. After receiving funding from the Scottish Government a Street by Street Energy Audit was carried out across Letham. Energy Awareness Advisors visited over 700 properties providing energy saving advice and carrying out a Home Energy Check. Residents were then referred to an Insulation Contractor who provided very competitive quotations with some residents being able to obtain grants for free insulation work.
The work was supported by Scottish Hydro Electric, SCARF and Perth & Kinross Council.
Following a further appliction to the Climate Challenge Fund work was carried out in setting up a Garden Share Project where residents without gardens could be matched up with residents who have a garden but are unable to manage it with the main aim of growing fruit and vegetables.
We have now started a waste minimisation project and we have opened a Swap Shop in Garth Avenue, Letham where unwanted household items can be swapped with someone else's unwanted items. If you don't want to swap when you bring your unwanted items into the shop then that is ok.
